Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micro powders are fine white powders having low to medium molecular weight and a particle size of 1-25 μm. These are either used as drying lubricants or as additives in host materials such as plastic compounds, rubbers, fluor elastomers, inks, paints, oils and greases to improve wear resistance, non-stick properties and to reduce coefficient of friction. Even at low percentages the use of these micronized powders will impart some of the properties of PTFE to the host material. They are easily mixed because they do not lump or agglomerate. While maintaining the excellent properties of PTFE, it also displays unique properties, such as high crystallinity, good dispersibility, easy to be mixed with other materials evenly. Therefore, micronized PTFE powder are widely used in the blending modification of polymer materials to improve the lubricity, wear resistance, non-stick performance and flame retardancy of the host materials, so that the performance of the host materials is significantly improved.

The two broader families are listed here, depending on requisite application and requirements other variants with different molecular weight and particle distribution can be provided on request.

The various grades of fine powders differ in molecular weight and structure, extrusion pressure and reduction ratio capability and are chosen primarily on the basis of available processing equipment and end-use requirements.
